About the Role
NAAMC has a volunteer or missionary-specific opportunity available for the role of Member Care Counselor. Reporting to the Director of Member Care, the Member Care Counselor is responsible for providing professional pastoral support for NAAMC member missionaries around the world. The Member Care Counselor will work together with the Member Care Team and qualified member care professionals, counselors, and pastors to ensure that Black and African American missionaries are cared for in all aspects of their work and lives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Undergird all thoughts and actions with prayer.
Meet with all those necessary to resolve any situation, remembering that confidentiality is of utmost importance.
Help with member care related trainings
Missionary Children – Work with the Director of Member Care to ensure the parents have the tools to care for their children in a foreign environment.
Team Leaders – Work with Team Leaders to provide “first responder” care for individual teams.
Churches – Work with churches on how to give better emotional support/help to their missionaries.
Facilitate church partnerships for the development of member care services.
Cooperate in attrition and retention studies and apply findings.
Help with assessments
Help the Director of Member Care with determining additional resources to help individuals and families thrive.
Conduct debriefings at the end of a missionary’s service and during home service, as needed.
Participate in crisis intervention
Attend appropriate conventions and other strategic meetings and work to provide member care as needed.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years’ experience in case management and supervision dealing with a broad range of obstacles within the African American missions field and working with a number of different counselors providing care to missionary personnel.
Possess pastoral gifts, spiritual counseling gifts, or
Feel called to care for Black and African American missionaries
Experience counseling Black and African American missionaries
Display communications skills for interaction with the team, churches, and ministries
Must Have experience with CRMs like HubSpot, Little Green Light, or Salesforce.
This is a Fully Remote Work Opportunity with some on-site events required.
